How to prepare your machine for (longer) periods of low production?

A correct shutdown will be more certain to lead to a succesful restart.

Due to the current worldwide spread of the COVID-19, many sectors, if not all, are being affected.

Because of the cancellation of events, closing of shops, restaurants, bars, etcetera, the impact on our printing sector is very important.

We can imagine your beloved machines are possibly forced to take a rest as well during the upcoming weeks.

Therefore our technical team prepared a general guideline on how to shut down your production machine for 2 to 3 weeks.

! If a longer shutdown is required, please call us so we can guide you through the process !

In general :

When you have the possibility to start up your machine once a week and print about 1 meter, this could be sufficient.

If the above is not the case, we advise you to follow the guidelines below, sorted per machine type.

EFi VUTEk Printers - QS and GS Series

- First position the printhead carriage in the middle (above the conveyor belt).

- Place the (orange) rubber seal under the carriage.

-> For the QS Series

- Shut down the machine, the carriage will automatically lower itself onto the seal.  Once the carriage has reached its down position, manually push the carriage down well.

-> For the GS Series

- Open the 'Service Aid' menu and select 'Carriage Full Down'.  Afterwards you can shut down the machine.

EFi VUTEk Printers - 3360

- Flush the ink system with Solvent Flush so the heads are on Solvent instead of Ink (normal daily shutdown).

- Place several wipes with Solvent on the rubber seal.

- Move the capper upwards (if necessary blocking it with a cardboard tube to push it well up against the heads)

HP XP Printers

- Make sure the printhead carriage is in Home Position.

- Position the slide under the printhead carriage and close the door.

Durst Printers

- Make sure the printhead carriage is in Home Position.

- Position the slide under the printhead carriage and close the door.

- Electricity and compressed air should remain connected and active.

For all printers : Close all doors, covers, cabinets to make sure there is no UV-light (daylight) on the printheads and ink tanks.
